The Company Law read with the Foreign Business and Investment Law, Commercial Law, Commercial Registration Law and Commercial Agencies Law regulates the activities of companies or individuals intending to participate in any economic activity in the Sultanate of Oman. However, such establishments must register themselves in the Commercial Register and acquire the requisite Municipality License in the Sultanate where business is being conducted. Foreign Companies intending to establish themselves in Oman have to ascertain whether the activity intended to be practiced by them can be performed by a foreign company. Certain specific activities are restricted either to wholly owned national companies or 51% locally owned national companies, with certain exceptions to GCC countries.
